Chair Department of Pathobiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine

Christopher Hunter, Ph.D., is the Mindy Halikman Heyer President’s Distinguished Chair and chair of the Department of Pathobiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. His research has focused on the complex interplay of the immune system at the cellular level and how these interactions govern the host’s recognition and response to immune insults. Much of Chris’s work has focused on host-pathogen interactions as a model system. Chris is particularly interested in the role played by cytokine networks that regulate the balance between protective and pathological immune responses. Chris received his doctorate degree from the University of Glasgow and performed a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University.
